By Brazil Stock Guide – Portuguese construction group Mota Engil SGPS SA (EGL.LS) has signed a contract valued at R$4.4 billion ($780 million) with Brazil’s state-controlled oil company Petrobras (PETR4.SA), strengthening its position in the country’s offshore infrastructure sector.

According to Investing.com, the agreement covers large-scale engineering and construction services for offshore facilities operated by Petrobras. The project will be carried out through Mota Engil’s local subsidiary, with a focus on maritime infrastructure linked to oil and gas operations.

Founded in 1946, Mota Engil is one of Europe’s largest construction and infrastructure groups, with operations spanning across Latin America, Africa, and Europe. The new Petrobras deal is among its biggest in Brazil and reinforces the company’s expansion strategy in the Americas.

Mota Engil said the contract highlights its growing expertise in energy-related engineering projects and its commitment to supporting Brazil’s offshore development. The company expects to employ hundreds of local workers and partner with domestic suppliers throughout the execution phase.
