By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s state-controlled oil producer Petrobras (PETR4) raised its average selling price of aviation kerosene, or jet fuel (QAV), by 3.8%, effective Monday, December 1. The adjustment was first reported by Broadcast and adds BRL 0.13 per liter compared with November.
The move represents the third straight monthly increase and follows the contractual pricing formula used in supply agreements with distributors, Petrobras said. With the December adjustment, QAV prices are up 1.3% year-to-date, equivalent to an additional BRL 0.05 per liter versus December 2024.
Even with the latest series of hikes, Petrobras highlighted steep reductions over a longer horizon.
“Since December 2022, Petrobras has reduced its QAV prices by 28.4%, equivalent to BRL 1.45 per liter. Adjusted for inflation, the reduction reaches 37.1%,” the company said.
Petrobras sells the jet fuel it refines or imports exclusively to distributors, who then handle transportation, commercial sales to airlines and other end users, and airport fueling operations. Distributors and resellers manage airport infrastructure and the on-site refueling services.
