By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency, known as Aneel, approved the notice for Transmission Auction No. 4/2026 on Tuesday, with bidding scheduled for Oct. 30 at the headquarters of exchange operator B3 SA (B3SA3) in São Paulo. The formal auction notice is due to be published in the Official Gazette on Thursday.

The auction will select companies to build and subsequently operate transmission infrastructure across Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Paraná, Rondônia and São Paulo.

Projects covered by the tender include 1,866 kilometers of new transmission lines and line sections, as well as the continuation of 483 kilometers of existing lines. The package also includes 12,694 MVA of new transformation capacity, 600 MVA of existing capacity and four synchronous compensators.

B3’s common shares trade under the ticker B3SA3, according to the company’s investor-relations website.

Largest lot accounts for R$4.1 billion

Lot 4 is the largest package by estimated investment, at R$4.1 billion. It includes transmission lines and substations across Goiás, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The lot has been split into two sublots that will be auctioned separately before being combined, a structure designed to encourage lower bids for the overall package, Aneel said.

Other assets include facilities serving southern and south-central Bahia, the Rio das Éguas-Iaciara 2 transmission line and Iaciara 2 substation between Bahia and Goiás, and projects in São Paulo, Paraná and Paraíba.

Construction deadlines range from 42 to 60 months from the signing of concession contracts. Aneel estimates the projects could generate 20,312 direct jobs.

Public consultation drew 258 contributions

The auction terms went through a public consultation from April 9 through May 25. Aneel received 258 submissions from 33 participants and fully incorporated 94 of them into the final framework.

The tender documents were also reviewed by Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts, or TCU, as part of the standard procedure for transmission auctions.
