By Brazil Stock Guide – Petrobras’ Alberto Pasqualini refinery, known as Refap, closed 2025 with record quarterly production of gasoline and low-sulfur diesel, underscoring operational gains at one of the company’s key refining hubs in southern Brazil.
According to information released by Petrobras (PBR), the Canoas-based refinery produced 786 million liters of gasoline and 765 million liters of S-10 diesel in the fourth quarter of 2025, the highest quarterly volumes in its history. The gasoline figure surpassed the previous record set in the third quarter of 2013, while diesel output exceeded the mark reached in the third quarter of 2025.
Refap also set a monthly gasoline production record in December, reaching 291 million liters, above the 281 million liters recorded in December 2024.
“The records in gasoline and S-10 diesel production achieved in the fourth quarter of 2025 reflect our firm commitment to strengthening the refinery’s operational efficiency, while maintaining safety and product quality,” said Marcus Aurelius Valenti, Refap’s general manager, in a statement.
S-10 diesel, Petrobras’ ultra-low sulfur fuel, is designed for vehicles equipped with selective catalytic reduction and exhaust gas recirculation technologies, which help reduce pollutant emissions and improve energy efficiency.
With processing capacity of about 32,000 cubic meters per day, Refap produces a broad range of fuels and derivatives, including gasoline, aviation kerosene, petrochemical naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas, propylene, asphalt and fuel oil.
The production gains come as Petrobras advances its long-term investment strategy. Under its latest business plan, the company expects to invest $15.8 billion in refining, transportation, marketing, petrochemicals and fertilizers through 2030, with a focus on increasing the share of higher value-added products.
