Mantiqueira to Invest R$565 Million as Egg Output Rises 50%

Brazilian producer plans to reach 6 billion eggs a year and add more than 7 million birds by 2028

By Brazil Stock Guide – Mantiqueira Brasil plans to invest about R$565 million to increase annual egg production by 50% to 6 billion units by 2028, the Brazilian producer said Thursday. Output currently stands at about 4 billion eggs a year.

The expansion program will add more than 7 million birds to the company’s flock and cover operations in Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Goiás. The funds will be used to build, expand, modernize and automate facilities.

Mantiqueira said the strategy is designed to increase scale, improve operating efficiency and expand the share of higher-value products in its portfolio. The company is also directing capital toward digital tools, artificial intelligence and new applications for egg whites and yolks.

New Minas Gerais Operation

Mantiqueira is building a facility in São Sebastião do Rio Verde, in southern Minas Gerais, with capacity for 3 million birds. The complex will include areas for rearing, laying and egg grading, as well as supporting industrial infrastructure.

The operation is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028 and is expected to create about 120 direct jobs and 100 indirect positions.

The company will also expand its unit in Pouso Alto, Minas Gerais, which is set to receive 700,000 additional birds.

Cage-Free Expansion in São Paulo

Mantiqueira will increase capacity at its Lorena operation in São Paulo, which the company describes as Latin America’s largest cage-free egg farm.

The first phase will expand the site’s capacity to 1.5 million birds. A second stage could double the flock to 3 million by 2028.

The Lorena facility also uses automated equipment capable of processing as many as 200,000 eggs an hour.

Integration With Paraná Producers

In Céu Azul, Paraná, Mantiqueira will modernize its egg-grading infrastructure and expand an integration program with small agricultural producers.

The project will add capacity equivalent to 1.3 million birds and is expected to involve about 120 rural producers by the end of 2026.

Investments in São João do Itaperiú, Santa Catarina, will include new laying and rearing sheds and a feed factory. In Formosa, Goiás, recently completed upgrades have increased production and operating efficiency, supporting deliveries to the Federal District and other markets in Brazil’s Center-West region.

AI and Higher-Value Products

Mantiqueira is using artificial intelligence in its commercial operations to track product turnover at retail locations and support inventory and supply decisions.

The company is also developing higher-value products and new uses for egg whites and yolks, seeking to diversify its portfolio beyond fresh eggs.
