By Brazil Stock Guide – Embraer SA (NYSE: EMBJ; B3: EMBJ3) secured an order from ANA Holdings Inc. (TSE: 9202) for eight additional E190-E2 jets, increasing the Japanese aviation group’s firm commitment for the aircraft to 23 units. ANA also retains options for five more E190-E2s, according to Embraer. The companies’ current stock codes are EMBJ/EMBJ3 for Embraer and 9202 for ANA Holdings.
The agreement formalizes ANA’s previously announced decision to expand its E190-E2 fleet following an initial order for 15 aircraft placed in 2025. The first E190-E2 is scheduled for delivery in 2028, marking the model’s planned introduction into the ANA group fleet.
The additional aircraft are intended to support ANA’s regional network in Japan, where the group is seeking greater operating efficiency while maintaining connectivity across domestic markets.
“This additional E190-E2 order accelerates our efforts to build a sustainable regional aviation network in Japan,” ANA Holdings President and Chief Executive Officer Koji Shibata said, according to Embraer’s statement.
Shibata said the decision also reflects ANA’s confidence in the Brazilian manufacturer’s technology as the carrier works to reduce its environmental footprint and operating costs while expanding regional connectivity.
ANA expands Embraer commitment
The latest agreement lifts ANA’s firm E190-E2 order by more than 50% from the original 15-aircraft commitment. Including the five options, the Japanese group could eventually operate as many as 28 aircraft from the program.
Embraer Commercial Aviation President and Chief Executive Officer Arjan Meijer said the additional order strengthens the manufacturer’s partnership with ANA and will support the carrier’s expansion plans in Japan.
“We are honored by ANA HD’s continued confidence in Embraer’s E2 aircraft and look forward to supporting the airline’s growth plans in Japan,” Meijer said.
He cited the E190-E2’s fuel efficiency and operating economics as factors that could help ANA expand connectivity while offering more passenger space and comfort.
The E190-E2 belongs to Embraer’s second-generation E-Jet family and is designed for short- and medium-haul operations. Embraer has positioned the aircraft as a lower-capacity alternative to larger narrow-body jets on routes where airlines need to balance frequency and demand.
ANA has operated Embraer aircraft in Japan through its group network since 2009. Embraer said it maintains personnel in the country to support local operators as the manufacturer prepares for the E190-E2’s entry into ANA’s fleet.
Embraer’s E-Jet program reached another milestone this week with delivery of its 2,000th aircraft. The company says the family is operated by more than 90 airlines in over 60 countries.
