Brazil Stock Guide – Embraer (NYSE: ERJ / B3: EMBR3) opened a new corporate office in New Delhi on Friday, marking a deeper commitment to the Indian market where it has operated for two decades. The inauguration, attended by Brazil’s Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and India’s Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, underscores the company’s expansion across commercial, executive, and defense aviation — as well as urban air mobility.
In a major step toward India’s vision of self-reliance under “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” Embraer Defense & Security and the Mahindra Group signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement to advance the C-390 Millennium as a solution for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program. The agreement was signed alongside the opening of Embraer’s new office at Aerocity in New Delhi.
The accord builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2024 at the Brazilian Embassy in India, expanding cooperation to include joint marketing, industrialization, and efforts to position India as a regional hub for the C-390 Millennium. Since then, the aircraft has broadened its global operator base, adding new air forces to its roster. Embraer and Mahindra will work closely with stakeholders across India’s military and aerospace ecosystem to explore opportunities for local manufacturing, assembly, supply chain, and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities.
“The agreement is a significant milestone in our relationship with the Mahindra Group,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “India’s aerospace industry is dynamic and world-class, and together we aim to deliver the most advanced and reliable military airlift solution to the Indian Air Force. This partnership goes beyond aerospace — it reflects our commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and the growing friendship between Brazil and India.”
Vinod Sahay, Member of the Group Executive Board at Mahindra, added: “The C-390 Millennium is unmatched in capability, efficiency, and versatility. By deepening our collaboration with Embraer, we will ensure that the C-390 proposed for the IAF’s MTA campaign not only strengthens India’s security and ambitions but also supports the Make in India philosophy and enhances our self-reliance.”
Located in the WorldMark 4 complex at Aerocity, the new Embraer office will serve as a regional hub for operations, procurement, engineering, and supply-chain management. Nearly 50 Embraer aircraft currently operate in India across 11 models, from E-Jets and Legacy 600s to defense variants such as the AEW&C “Netra.”
The C-390 Millennium, already selected by air forces in Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia, Lithuania, and one undisclosed customer, can carry a payload of 26 metric tons, fly faster (470 knots) and farther than comparable military transports, and perform multiple missions — from cargo and troop transport to aerial refueling, firefighting, and humanitarian operations.
