Embraer, Adani Sign Deal to Build Regional Aviation Ecosystem in India

MoU covers local manufacturing, supply chain, services and pilot training as India pushes regional jet program.

By Brazil Stock Guide – Embraer (NYSE: EMBJ; B3: EMBJ3) said on Tuesday it has signed a strategic partnership with Adani Defence & Aerospace to develop an integrated regional aviation ecosystem in India, a move that deepens the Brazilian planemaker’s exposure to one of the world’s fastest-growing air travel markets. The agreement, formalized through a memorandum of understanding in New Delhi, spans aircraft manufacturing, supply chain development, after-sales services and pilot training.

The partnership envisages the establishment of an aircraft production facility in India and a gradual increase in local content, supporting the country’s Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) program. The initiative aligns with the Indian government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat policy, aimed at strengthening domestic industrial capabilities, and with UDAN, the national program designed to expand regional air connectivity to smaller cities and underserved regions.

By pairing Embraer’s engineering and manufacturing expertise with Adani’s industrial scale, the companies aim to assess technically advanced and economically viable solutions to underpin India’s regional jet ambitions. Adani brings a presence across the aviation value chain, including airport infrastructure, aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul services, and pilot training, creating a vertically integrated platform for regional aviation growth.

Beyond the commercial rationale, the project carries broader industrial and strategic implications. The proposed ecosystem is expected to generate a significant number of direct and indirect jobs in engineering, manufacturing, logistics and support services, while reinforcing aerospace cooperation between India and Brazil amid a global reconfiguration of supply chains.

Embraer already has a consolidated and expanding presence in India, with close to 50 aircraft in operation across commercial, executive and defense segments. These include the ERJ145 platform, used by the Indian Air Force as the basis for the Netra airborne early warning and control system, as well as E175 jets operated by regional carrier Star Air. For Embraer, the agreement adds another pillar to its long-term strategy of anchoring regional aviation growth through localized industrial partnerships.
