By Brazil Stock Guide – The Ministry of Communications and Anatel have officially launched a public auction for the 700 MHz frequency band, aimed at enhancing connectivity across Brazil’s rural areas and highways. The auction, scheduled for tomorrow (April 30), has an estimated R$ 2 billion investment and will benefit over 864 locations, including 6,500 kilometers of federal highways in 16 states.
The event will feature the participation of Minister Frederico de Siqueira Filho, along with Anatel’s board members, Edson Holanda and Nilo Pasquali. The focus of the auction is to extend high-quality mobile coverage to remote regions, where signal gaps persist. The auction is designed to promote competition in Brazil’s telecom sector, with a special emphasis on regional operators.
Frederico de Siqueira Filho emphasized the importance of the auction for the modernization of telecom networks, stating that the initiative will help ensure a better and more stable connectivity experience for underserved areas. In an effort to boost competition, the auction’s model is non-revenue-driven, requiring winning bidders to invest directly in infrastructure improvements.
