By Brazil Stock Guide –Brazil’s Transport Ministry unveiled its 2026 auction schedule on Tuesday (25), detailing 21 infrastructure concessions spanning highways and railways. The plan, first reported by Broadcast, projects R$288 billion in potential investment across the portfolio.
The roadmap includes 13 highway auctions and 8 rail tenders, covering every region of the country. The ministry removed the Rota Agro Central corridor from the calendar, trimming the highway list from 14 to 13. “The press and much of the market did not believe it was possible, but we delivered exactly what we said we would,” Transport Minister Renan Filho said during the announcement.
Road Concessions Begin in March
Highway projects account for roughly R$148 billion of next year’s projected investment. The 2026 schedule combines seven new concessions with six contract optimizations.
The first round, in March, will feature the Rota dos Sertões (BR-116/BA/PE), Rotas Gerais (BR-116/251/MG) and the optimization of the Régis Bittencourt (BR-116/SP/PR).
In April, the government plans to auction improvements to the Arco Norte corridor (BR-163/MT/PA).
The calendar then accelerates:
- June – Rota do Pequi (BR-060/153/DF/GO)
- July – Rota Litoral Sul (BR-116/376/PR and BR-101/SC)
- August – Rota Portuária do Sul (BR-116/392/RS)
- September – Rota Planalto Sul (BR-116/PR/SC)
- October – Transbrasiliana (BR-153/SP)
- November – Rota 2 de Julho (BR-116/324/BA) and Santa Catarina Integrated Highways (Lots 1 and 3)
- December – Rota Integração do Sul (BR-116/158/290/392/RS)
Brazil is on track to approach its four-year goal of 35 auctions, set at the start of the current administration. Twelve highway auctions have taken place so far in 2025, with a new deal for the Fernão Dias corridor scheduled for December.
Rail Projects Total R$140 Billion in Expected Investment
Rail tenders represent R$140 billion of the ministry’s estimated contract value for 2026. The first, the Minas-Rio Corridor, is set for April.
The Southeast Rail Ring follows in June, with the West Rail Network slated for July and the East-West Corridor for August.
In September, Brazil expects to auction the long-awaited Ferrogrão project, seen as a key logistics route for agricultural exports. Three major Malha Sul corridors will close out the year in December: Paraná–Santa Catarina, Rio Grande and Mercosur.
