By Brazil Stock Guide – The Rota da Liberdade consortium won the 30-year concession of the Ouro Preto-Mariana highway lot in Minas Gerais, Brazil, after placing a BRL 1.7 billion ($330 million) bid. The auction was held Thursday at B3’s headquarters in São Paulo.
The winning offer represented a 13.2% discount from the maximum compensation set in the public notice. Houer Concessões, which bid BRL 1.9 billion, fell short. The concession involves a 190-kilometer stretch connecting MG-329 in Rio Casca to BR-040 in Nova Lima, including the full duplication of BR-356, according to Valor Econômico.
The project is part of Minas Gerais’ broader highway concessions program and is expected to require around BRL 6 billion ($1.1 billion) in total investments, with BRL 2 billion coming from funds linked to the Mariana disaster reparation agreement.
Four toll plazas are planned: two on BR-356 in Itabirito and Ouro Preto, one on MG-262 in Acaiaca, and one on MG-329 in Ponte Nova. The state government said the goal is to improve road safety, cut logistics costs and strengthen economic and tourism links in the region.
The contract with Rota da Liberdade is expected to be signed later this year.
