Pátria-backed Sementes São Francisco buys Auma

São Paulo-based agribusiness platform enters Brazil’s soybean seed market in Minas Gerais through acquisition

By Brazil Stock Guide – Pátria Investments Ltd. (NASDAQ: PAX) has expanded its agribusiness footprint in Brazil after Sementes São Francisco, a Goiás-based company controlled by the private equity firm, acquired Auma Sementes, marking its entry into the soybean seed market in Minas Gerais.

The transaction, disclosed by financial advisory firm RFA Capital, positions Sementes São Francisco in one of Brazil’s key agricultural states at a time when the seed industry is undergoing consolidation driven by higher technological demands and stricter quality requirements from farmers.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Patos de Minas, Auma Sementes operates as a soybean seed multiplier. The company was established by rural producer Cláudio Nasser, an entrepreneur with more than four decades of experience in Brazilian agribusiness. Following the deal, Nasser will retain a minority stake in the company, maintaining continuity while partnering with a larger platform.

According to RFA Capital, Brazil’s soybean seed sector remains highly fragmented and is moving through a natural consolidation process. This trend has been fueled by the professionalization of agribusiness, advances in biotechnology and germplasm, and increasing demand for traceability and quality in seed production.

The acquisition strengthens Pátria’s strategy of scaling its seed operations through Sementes São Francisco, aligning with growing demand for technology-driven solutions in the agricultural supply chain.
