By Brazil Stock Guide – Axia Energia plans to invest 6.09 billion reais ($1.2 billion) through 2030 to upgrade 124 substations across Brazil, aiming to improve grid reliability and operational efficiency as demand for electricity grows.
The investment program includes projects already completed, under construction or scheduled to begin in the coming years, covering all five regions of the country and reinforcing the national interconnected system.
In northern Brazil, the company will allocate 82.15 million reais to replace equipment at the Porto Velho substation in Rondônia, while another 68.99 million reais will be directed to upgrades in Marabá, Pará, increasing transmission capacity and system reliability.
In the northeast, Axia Energia will spend 206.34 million reais on transmission infrastructure connecting substations in Maranhão, alongside capacitor bank replacements. In Pernambuco, a 153.72 million reais project completed in October 2025 expanded the Bongi substation with additional transformers.
The southeast region will also see significant upgrades, including a 152.2 million reais investment in São Paulo’s Itaberá substation and 96.64 million reais for a new autotransformer in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, strengthening grid resilience.
In southern Brazil, 146.4 million reais will be invested in the Ivaiporã substation in Paraná, with additional upgrades in Londrina totaling 55.44 million reais. In the center-west, 79.38 million reais will be allocated to transformer replacements in Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso.
