By Brazil Stock Guide – Shopee, the e-commerce platform owned by Singapore-based Sea Ltd., has opened a new distribution center in Minas Gerais under its fulfillment model — in which the platform handles storage, picking, packing and shipping — bringing its total to five such facilities in Brazil and reinforcing its strategy to shorten delivery times and improve logistics efficiency.
Located in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area, the new operation is expected to reduce delivery times for local consumers by around 50% and generate more than 500 direct and indirect jobs. The facility also marks Shopee’s first fulfillment center in the state, expanding its footprint in one of Brazil’s largest seller bases.
Under this model, sellers send their inventory to Shopee’s warehouses, allowing the company to manage the entire logistics process through to final delivery. By positioning goods closer to demand centers, the system enables faster shipping, greater predictability and scale gains for both merchants and the platform.
With the new unit, Shopee now operates five fulfillment centers in Brazil, alongside existing facilities in São Paulo, Pernambuco, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul. The model has become central to increasing control over the logistics chain and supporting faster services, including next-day delivery already available in more than 75 cities across the metropolitan regions of Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The expansion is part of a broader push to strengthen Shopee’s logistics network in Brazil, which now includes 19 distribution centers, more than 200 first- and last-mile hubs, and thousands of partner pickup and drop-off points.
“With the expansion of our network, we are bringing products closer to buyers, accelerating deliveries and strengthening a more reliable operational backbone for sellers,” said Felipe Lima, Shopee’s Director of Business Development and Fulfillment.
The logistics buildout also reflects intensifying competition in Brazil’s e-commerce market, where delivery speed and operational efficiency have become key differentiators in the race for consumers and sellers.
