By Brazil Stock Guide – Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has launched two cloud and artificial intelligence data centers in Brazil that are already operating, as the company expands its regional infrastructure footprint amid rising demand for AI computing power.
The facilities are located in the state of São Paulo, and additional units are still under construction, according to Priscyla Laham, Microsoft’s president in Brazil, who made the announcement on Wednesday (11) during the Microsoft AI Tour event in São Paulo.
The new data centers are part of Microsoft’s plan to invest R$14.7 billion in cloud and AI infrastructure in Brazil through 2027, a commitment the company first unveiled during the 2024 edition of the AI Tour.
Laham said Microsoft believes artificial intelligence can help make Brazil “more competitive, increasing productivity, boosting innovation and placing the country in a globally prominent position.”
Microsoft also provided an update on its workforce development initiative launched in 2024, when it pledged to train 5 million people in AI-related skills in Brazil by 2027. The company said that since the launch of its ConectAI program, 6.6 million Brazilians have started some form of AI training, while 2.8 million have completed their courses.
Brazil has increasingly been viewed as a strategic market for data center investments in Latin America, supported by its energy resources and large domestic demand for cloud services. Analysts at BTG Pactual said in a recent report that Brazil and Chile could become “a paradise” for the data center industry.
The sector is also watching the progress of a proposed tax incentive framework. The provisional measure establishing Redata — a special tax regime for data center services — was signed in September 2025 and is currently under discussion in Brazil’s Chamber of Deputies. The measure would reduce federal tax rates to zero on products purchased by companies building data centers in the country.
