Indexes provide benchmarks for ETFs
B3 indexes serve as benchmarks for exchange-traded funds, or ETFs, which seek to replicate the performance of specific asset portfolios.
Investors can gain exposure to a diversified basket through a single listed product instead of buying each stock or security individually. ETFs linked to broad-market indexes such as the Ibovespa and IBrX 50 are among the products used to track Brazilian equities.
The exchange also lists ETFs linked to sector and fixed-income indexes, expanding diversification options and generally offering lower costs than actively managed funds.
Among the products cited by B3 are FIND11, linked to the IFNC B3; BBOI11, tied to the IFBOI B3; and BNKS11, which follows the IB3 Bancos. The Ibovespa B3 BR+ has NBOV11, B3BR11 and BRAZ11, while PIBB11 tracks the IBrX 50 B3.
Other products include CAPE11, linked to the Ibov BR+ Cap 5% B3; ECOO11, tied to the ICO2 B3; and BOVA11, BBOV11, XBOV11, BOVB11, BOVV11, BOVX11, IBOV11 and BOVS11, which follow the Ibovespa B3.
As indexes attract more investor attention, they can also support the launch of new listed products and broaden access to investment strategies.
