By Brazil Stock Guide – Eve, the air mobility company controlled by Embraer, could begin commercial operations with its eVTOL aircraft in Brazil and the United States by the end of 2028, potentially at roughly the same time in both markets, Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said.
Embraer also expects the aircraft to secure certification by the end of 2028, paving the way for initial deliveries and commercial service in what the Brazilian planemaker considers one of its key long-term growth projects.
The program has already completed more than 60 vertical flights and recently achieved its first partial transition toward horizontal flight, an important technical milestone as Eve advances through development and certification.
Initial production will be concentrated in Taubaté, in the state of São Paulo, where Eve plans to operate a manufacturing facility with capacity of roughly 480 aircraft per year.
Embraer, however, intends to monitor how demand develops before deciding whether additional production facilities will be needed. That approach would allow capacity to expand gradually as the urban air mobility market begins to scale.
Eve currently has around 3,000 letters of intent, alongside a number of firm orders, giving it one of the largest potential commercial pipelines among electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft programs worldwide.
During Embraer’s earnings call, Gomes Neto said the company remains confident that Eve will become a more meaningful contributor to the group’s growth, particularly in 2029 and 2030, complementing Embraer’s broader growth strategy as it enters the next decade.
The program still needs to clear several important technical milestones before reaching commercial service.
Among them are a full transition from vertical to horizontal flight and the reverse transition back to vertical flight, key steps in demonstrating the aircraft’s ability to operate across the different phases of a typical mission.
Gomes Neto said Embraer expects further progress as the flight-test campaign advances through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
The timeline makes 2028 the key inflection point for the program: certification, the start of commercial operations and preparations for scaled production could all converge around that year.
For Embraer, that would mark the point at which Eve begins moving from a long-term strategic bet toward a potentially meaningful new growth platform.
