BNDES Approves $312 Million Financing for Embraer Exports

Brazilian development bank supports export of 13 E-175 jets to SkyWest Airlines

By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s state development bank, BNDES, has approved a financing package of R$ 1.7 billion (approximately $312.3 million) to support the export of 13 Embraer E-175 aircraft to U.S.-based SkyWest Airlines. The deal, set to be executed through the BNDES Exim Pós-Embarque program, will see deliveries take place between the fourth quarter of 2025 and the end of 2026. SkyWest, the largest operator of the E-175 model worldwide, currently operates a fleet of 265 such aircraft, a number that is expected to grow to 279 by 2026.

Aloizio Mercadante, the president of BNDES, emphasized the bank’s key role in enhancing the competitiveness of Brazilian industries globally: “BNDES plays a fundamental role in promoting the competitiveness of Brazilian industry in the global market. Embraer’s success is a direct result of the Bank’s support, which has allowed the company to achieve a significant presence in several countries, particularly in the U.S. market,” Mercadante said.

The financing deal also benefits the broader aerospace supply chain in Brazil, contributing to SkyWest’s fleet expansion in the U.S. “BNDES has been an essential partner in strengthening our global position and, consequently, the extensive supply chain involved in producing our jets. The support for expanding our presence in the U.S. market is even more strategic. This operation also benefits American regional aviation, a key sector for national connectivity,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, CEO of Embraer.

To date, the bank has backed the export of over 1,350 Embraer aircraft, totaling $26.7 billion, solidifying the Brazilian aerospace company’s global standing.
