By Brazil Stock Guide – TikTok confirmed on Wednesday (3) that it will build its first data center in Latin America, selecting Brazil’s Pecém Industrial and Port Complex (CIPP) in Ceará as the site. The company disclosed the information in an official statement, outlining plans to begin initial operations in 2027.
The project will be carried out with Omnia — the data-center arm of Pátria Investimentos — and renewable-energy developer Casa dos Ventos. According to TikTok, total investment exceeds R$200 billion, including R$108 billion in equipment through 2035 and additional spending on technology upgrades over the following decade. Omnia will oversee construction, Casa dos Ventos will provide dedicated clean-energy generation, and TikTok will install the racks and processing systems.
TikTok said it chose Pecém for its combination of renewable-energy availability, high-capacity connectivity, road access, skilled labor and local incentives, giving the project competitiveness on par with hyperscale global centers. Early assessments indicate more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs during the initial construction and operational phases.
In a statement, Monica Guise, TikTok’s Public Policy Director in Brazil, said: “This project is a decisive step to expand our contribution to Brazil’s digital ecosystem. It combines technological innovation, socioeconomic impact and sustainability, elements that are essential to strengthening trust among the community and institutions.”
The data center will run entirely on 100% renewable energy, sourced from new Casa dos Ventos wind farms built exclusively for the facility. It will also operate a closed water-reuse loop for equipment cooling, reducing overall consumption and avoiding any impact on the region’s existing electricity supply.
