Latam Expands Domestic Capacity in Brazil by 27% Since 2019

Airline posts record network growth as passenger demand and routes increase, according to Anac

By Brazil Stock Guide – LATAM Airlines Group SA (NYSE: LTM) expanded its domestic capacity in Brazil by 27% in the first half of 2025 compared with the same period in 2019, according to Brasil 247. The carrier offered 22.6 million domestic seats and 4.3 million international seats from Brazil, reaching a total of 26.9 million, up 22% from pre-pandemic levels.

Passenger volumes rose in line with capacity growth. LATAM carried 18.3 million domestic passengers and 3.6 million international travelers in the first six months of the year, for a combined total of 22 million, an increase of 23% compared with 2019.


Routes and destinations

The airline now serves 56 Brazilian airports with 138 domestic routes, compared with 44 airports and 123 routes in 2019. Internationally, it operates 38 routes from Brazil to 23 destinations, compared with 35 routes to 26 destinations before the pandemic.

In the second half of 2025, LATAM will add 12 new domestic routes, including São Paulo Congonhas–São Luís and Guarulhos–Bonito, and six international routes such as Florianópolis–Buenos Aires and Belém–Bogotá. The network expansion will bring the company’s Brazilian coverage to 59 airports.


Fleet and operations

LATAM will operate an average of 800 daily flights in Brazil in August 2025, up 13.5% from 2019. This includes 736 domestic flights, compared with 616 six years earlier, and 64 international flights, down from 89.

The fleet grew from 158 aircraft at the end of 2019 to 169 as of August 2025.


Load factors and market leadership

Domestic load factors reached 86% in August 2025, up from 82% in the same month of 2019. International load factors edged up to 87% from 86%.

LATAM has led Brazil’s domestic and international aviation markets since 2021, according to Anac. It was also named the top airline among corporate travelers for the second consecutive year by the Brazilian Association of Corporate Travel Agencies (Abracorp).
