By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s state-owned postal operator Correios and Chinese e-commerce platform AliExpress have renewed their logistics partnership and signed an agreement aimed at accelerating deliveries across Brazil during peak shopping periods.
According to Agência Brasil, the companies signed a memorandum of understanding to reduce delivery times, increase parcel-processing capacity and improve shipment tracking. The agreement targets growing demand ahead of Black Friday and the November 11 shopping festival, one of China’s largest online retail events.
The agreement was signed in September at the headquarters of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE: BABA; HKEX: 9988) in Hangzhou, China. Alibaba operates AliExpress, which serves Brazilian consumers through its cross-border e-commerce platform.
The renewed partnership maintains Correios’ role in delivering AliExpress orders in Brazil while establishing additional cooperation to improve logistics performance during periods of elevated shopping activity.
Faster Deliveries and Expanded Capacity
The companies plan to strengthen their operations across three areas: delivery speed, parcel-processing capacity and shipment visibility.
The initiative seeks to improve the movement of international orders through Brazil’s logistics network, particularly when major promotional campaigns generate higher parcel volumes.
Enhanced tracking capabilities are also part of the agreement, with the companies seeking to provide consumers with better visibility into shipment progress.
Neither company disclosed specific delivery-time reduction targets, investment commitments or projected parcel volumes associated with the new arrangement.
Correios Prepares for Peak Shopping Season
Correios President Emmanuel Rondon said the partnership reflects recognition of the company’s ability to support Brazil’s expanding e-commerce market.
“We are prepared for the expected increase in parcel volumes at the end of the year, with robust and integrated logistics that connect Brazil to global e-commerce and ensure faster service for consumers,” Rondon said, according to Agência Brasil.
The agreement comes ahead of two major retail events that typically increase demand for parcel deliveries.
China’s November 11 shopping festival, also known as Singles’ Day, is a major promotional event for Chinese online retailers. Black Friday, meanwhile, drives increased sales across Brazilian and international e-commerce platforms.
Both events place additional demands on sorting facilities, transportation networks and last-mile delivery operations.
International Expansion Supports Restructuring
The partnership forms part of Correios’ broader restructuring plan, which identifies international commercial relationships as a strategic priority.
Expanding cooperation with global e-commerce platforms could help the state-owned operator strengthen its position in Brazil’s cross-border parcel delivery market.
For Alibaba, the arrangement supports AliExpress’ logistics operations in Brazil, where the availability and reliability of delivery services are important components of the customer experience.
Correios remains a state-owned company without publicly traded shares, while Alibaba is listed in New York and Hong Kong.
The agreement establishes a framework for closer operational coordination ahead of the fourth-quarter shopping season, although the companies have not announced a timetable for implementing specific improvements.
