By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s oil and gas output reached 5.851 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in July 2026, with pre-salt fields accounting for 82.4% of the total and crude production rising 13.6% from a year earlier, according to data released by the National Petroleum Agency, or ANP.
The figures were published Sept. 1 in the regulator’s Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin. Brazil pumped 4.498 million barrels of crude per day, an increase of 0.5% from the previous month.
Natural gas production totaled 214.97 million cubic meters per day, up 12.6% from July 2025. The ANP statement reported a 1.1% decline compared with May.
Pre-salt output rises 18.2%
Combined oil and gas production from Brazil’s pre-salt region reached 4.821 million boe/d, up 0.3% from the previous month and 18.2% from a year earlier.
The region’s 203 producing wells delivered 3.728 million barrels of crude per day and 173.72 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
Offshore fields accounted for 98.1% of Brazil’s oil production and 88.7% of its natural gas output. Nationwide production came from 6,724 wells, including 613 offshore and 6,111 onshore units.
Petrobras-operated fields dominate production
Fields operated by Petroleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras (PETR4 BZ, PBR US), either independently or through consortia, accounted for 87.27% of Brazil’s total oil and gas production in July.
Buzios, in the Santos Basin pre-salt region, was Brazil’s largest oil-producing field, pumping about 1.113 million barrels per day.
Mero, also in the Santos Basin, led natural gas production with 49.14 million cubic meters per day.
The Almirante Tamandare floating production, storage and offloading vessel, or FPSO, posted the highest oil output among individual facilities, producing 263,178 barrels per day at Buzios.
The Marechal Duque de Caxias FPSO, operating at Mero, led natural gas production with 13.60 million cubic meters per day.
Natural gas flaring falls 29.5%
Brazil utilized 97.8% of the natural gas produced during the month. About 66.12 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market, while 4.67 million cubic meters per day were flared.
Gas flaring dropped 29.5% from the previous month and 14.8% from July 2025.
The ANP said monthly production can fluctuate because of scheduled maintenance, well shutdowns, cleaning operations, the startup of new wells and the commissioning of production units.
