By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil expects to add at least 64 new international flights and 16 additional frequencies by September, reinforcing a broader expansion of the country’s global air links after a record year for foreign tourism, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
The projection was reported by Broadcast, the real-time financial news service of Agência Estado, and is based on routes already authorized by Brazil’s civil aviation regulator, Anac, and confirmed by airlines. The government sees the expansion as a key pillar to sustain growth in inbound travel after strong results in 2025.
Brazil closed last year with a historic high of 9.3 million foreign visitors. Acting Tourism Minister Fernanda Câmara Norat said the increase in international connectivity is expected to have a broad economic impact. “This expansion will be decisive to sustain the sector’s growth, intensify visitor flows, attract investment and boost job and income generation across the country,” she said.
The new routes and added frequencies will connect Brazil to destinations in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. Airlines involved include Aerolíneas Argentinas, Gol Linhas Aéreas (GOLL4.SA), Latam Airlines Group (LTM), Turkish Airlines (THYAO.IS), American Airlines Group (AAL), Copa Holdings (CPA), Qatar Airways, Air France-KLM (AF.PA), TAP Air Portugal and IAG, owner of Iberia (IAG.L).
In 2025, Brazil recorded 75,361 international flights, offering more than 17 million seats, an increase of about 13% compared with 2024. The data underscore a recovery that has moved well beyond pre-pandemic levels.
December stood out as a particularly strong month. International air capacity was 36.7% higher than in October 2019, before the Covid-19 crisis. The country handled 6,811 international flights in the month, a 10% increase from December 2024.
Latin America accounted for 60.14% of international operations in December, followed by Europe with 21.39%. São Paulo led Brazilian cities, concentrating 51.37% of international flights, followed by Rio de Janeiro with 22.56% and Florianópolis with 6.44%.
