Bradesco tops fifth Eco Invest Brasil auction, targets R$21 billion in private capital

Bank submits R$28.5 billion in proposals, including R$7.5 billion in public funding, taking its total mobilization under the program above R$40 billion.

By Brazil Stock Guide — Bradesco emerged as the largest participant by volume in the fifth auction of Brazil’s Eco Invest program, submitting proposals totaling R$28.5 billion to finance projects linked to the country’s green transition.

Of that amount, R$7.5 billion will come from public resources, while Bradesco committed to mobilizing another R$21 billion in private capital through investment funds and credit lines. The latest round takes the bank’s total capital mobilized across the program’s five editions to more than R$40 billion, combining public and private funding.

Bradesco won three of the six areas offered in the latest auction: green fertilizers and alternative proteins; mineral and industrial waste circularity; and biomaterials and green chemistry.

The bank said it is the only financial institution to have participated and qualified in every Eco Invest Brasil auction since the program was launched.

“We will work to mobilize the R$21 billion in private capital included in our proposals, connecting investors with projects that need funding to develop technologies and scale up production,” said Caio Andrade, head of ESG at Bradesco BBI.

Andrade said the bank would seek investors and financing sources both in Brazil and overseas, with private capital complementing the public resources made available through the program.

The funding will be directed partly to innovation funds targeting companies and projects at early or intermediate stages of technological development, and partly to credit lines for eligible companies operating in the sectors awarded to Bradesco.

The bank will select the projects to receive financing after the auction results are formally approved, subject to the program’s rules.

Eco Invest Brasil is coordinated by Brazil’s Finance Ministry and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and forms part of the government’s broader Ecological Transformation Plan. The program is designed to use public resources to crowd in private investment for productive projects and technological development.

Bradesco has taken part in all five Eco Invest rounds. The first focused on sustainable infrastructure, followed by auctions targeting the restoration of degraded land, equity investment structures, bioeconomy and infrastructure projects in the Legal Amazon, and now technological innovation in strategic industrial chains.

The bank said it has already fully allocated the resources awarded to it in the program’s first auction.

The latest result further expands Bradesco’s role in blended finance, combining public funding with domestic and international private capital to support Brazil’s transition toward a lower-carbon economy.
