UAE’s Edge to Acquire Brazil Aerospace Firm Akaer

Deal adds drone, electro-optical and space engineering capabilities to the Emirati defense technology group

By Brazil Stock Guide –Edge Group, the United Arab Emirates’ advanced technology and defense company, agreed to acquire 100% of Brazilian aerospace engineering firm Akaer, expanding its capabilities in unmanned aircraft, electro-optical systems and space technologies.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Completion of the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Edge’s ability to meet industrialization schedules for strategic unmanned aerial vehicle programs. It will also broaden the group’s expertise in optronics, electro-optical and infrared systems, as well as technologies used in the space industry.

Akaer already works with Edge on the development and industrialization of unmanned systems. Full ownership will allow the UAE-based group to integrate the Brazilian company’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities into its international operations.

“Our priority is to ensure continuity for Akaer’s employees, its programs and its customers, while building a solid foundation for long-term growth,” Hamad Al Marar, managing director and chief executive officer of Edge Group, said in a statement.

The transaction gives Edge access to a Brazilian company with experience across the aerospace, defense and technology industries. Akaer develops engineering solutions for aircraft and space programs and also manufactures products including Opto-ThermoScan, a system designed to monitor body temperature.
