By Brazil Stock Guide – Shopee is expanding its cross-border sales platform to more than 150,000 Brazilian merchants, allowing them to sell products to consumers in Argentina and Mexico without additional platform fees.
The e-commerce company said on Tuesday the expansion follows a pilot involving more than 19,000 Brazilian sellers, which made more than 1.4 million products available to customers abroad.
Shopee is the e-commerce arm of Singapore-based Sea Ltd. (NYSE: SE), which also owns digital entertainment business Garena and financial-services platform Monee.
The initiative is aimed mainly at small and medium-sized Brazilian businesses seeking access to regional e-commerce markets without having to independently manage the complexities of exporting goods.
For consumers in Argentina and Mexico, the program will broaden the range of Brazilian products available through Shopee.
“Expanding a business internationally often requires entrepreneurs to develop new capabilities and deal with unfamiliar processes. Shopee’s International Platform allows Brazilian small and medium-sized businesses to build on the online presence and experience they have already developed on Shopee to explore regional e-commerce opportunities,” Felipe Lima, Shopee’s director of business development and fulfillment operations, said in a statement.
“This makes international trade more accessible to businesses at different stages of maturity,” he added.
Shopee handles cross-border logistics
Under the program, Brazilian sellers remain responsible for preparing products for collection once an international order is placed.
Shopee then manages the logistics through its partners, including collection, international transportation and final delivery to customers. The company also provides support with customs clearance and customer service.
The model is designed to allow sellers to maintain a process similar to their domestic operations while outsourcing key elements of cross-border logistics.
Participation is initially offered through invitations sent via Shopee’s Seller Center. Merchants that have not received an invitation can also register their interest in joining the program.
Push to take Brazilian sellers abroad
The expansion is part of Shopee’s broader effort to help Brazilian merchants reach international markets.
In 2025, Shopee signed a partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, ApexBrasil, covering training programs, strategic content and technical support for companies seeking to expand overseas.
The international sales platform adds a direct commercial and logistics channel for participating merchants, with Argentina and Mexico serving as the first foreign markets covered by the expanded program.
