By Brazil Stock Guide – BYD has surpassed 200,000 electrified vehicles registered in Brazil, marking a symbolic milestone for both the company and the country’s automotive transition. The figure includes fully electric and plug-in hybrid models sold since BYD delivered its first vehicle in Brazil in April 2022, consolidating the Chinese group as the undisputed leader in the nation’s electrification push.
The achievement comes just two months after BYD celebrated 170,000 units sold, highlighting the pace at which demand for electrified vehicles is accelerating in Brazil. According to industry data, the company’s cumulative sales curve has steepened sharply in 2025, reflecting a combination of broader consumer acceptance, competitive pricing and an expanding product lineup tailored to local demand.
Fenabrave data for January through November 2025 show BYD holding a commanding 73.62% market share in battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The scale of its dominance is such that the combined sales of the brands ranked from second to fifteenth in the segment fail to exceed BYD’s own volume over the period. In plug-in and hybrid vehicles, the company also leads the market, with a 26.33% share.
BYD executives say the numbers reflect more than short-term momentum. Alexandre Baldy, senior vice president and head of commercial and marketing at BYD Brazil, said the company has moved beyond market entry and established itself as one of the fastest-growing and most influential automakers in the country, driven by accessible products that combine advanced technology, innovation and quality.
The sales mix reinforces that positioning. The fully electric Dolphin Mini, the first EV produced at BYD’s Camaçari complex in Bahia, has surpassed 52,000 units, while the plug-in hybrid Song Plus has exceeded 41,000 registrations. Other high-volume models include the Song Pro, Dolphin GS and the King sedan, illustrating the breadth of demand across price points and powertrain configurations.
Geographically, BYD’s growth has been nationwide, with Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Salvador among the leading markets. To support this expansion, the company now operates more than 200 dealerships across Brazil and plans to reach 250 points of sale in the coming months, further reinforcing its physical presence.
Infrastructure has been another pillar of BYD’s strategy. The company has built what it describes as Brazil’s largest private fast-charging public network, with more than 116 rapid chargers installed at its dealerships. All units operate at 60 kW to 120 kW and are available to any battery electric vehicle, regardless of brand. Access is managed through the BYD Recharge app, which allows users to reserve chargers, track charging sessions in real time and measure the environmental impact of each recharge.
Tyler Li, president of BYD Brazil, said the milestone underscores the strategic importance of the country for the group’s global expansion and framed the 200,000-unit mark as an early chapter in a longer-term industrial and technological commitment to the Brazilian market.
