By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s oil regulator, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), carried out a new on-site inspection on Wednesday (14) at the Refit refinery, also known as Refinaria de Manguinhos, in Rio de Janeiro, according to people familiar with the matter.
The inspection is linked to the ongoing partial shutdown process imposed on the facility. Seven ANP officials are assessing whether the interdiction should be maintained, a measure that has kept the refinery’s distillation tower inactive. The team is also auditing production measurement and recordkeeping, the plant’s current operating model, and its operational safety conditions.
Refit was partially shut down at the end of September. About three weeks later, regulators eased the restrictions to allow the movement of products, while keeping the distillation unit offline. The latest inspection is aimed at verifying compliance with the terms of that decision and evaluating whether safety and operational requirements continue to be met.
