By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s electricity regulator Aneel approved new tariffs for two major distributors, CPFL Piratininga (BVMF:CPFE3) and Equatorial Goiás (BVMF:EQTL3), with increases taking effect this week. The decision was announced on Tuesday following a board meeting.
For CPFL Piratininga, which supplies about 1.98 million consumer units across 27 municipalities in São Paulo state, the new rates take effect on Thursday, Oct. 23. Residential consumers (B1) will see a 5.58% hike. The average impact is 5.64% for low-voltage clients and 12.15% for high-voltage, resulting in a weighted average increase of 7.63%.
In Equatorial Goiás, which serves around 3.49 million units, the tariff adjustments begin Wednesday, Oct. 22. Residential B1 customers face a 18.74% increase. Low-voltage consumers will pay an average 19.01% more, while high-voltage clients see a 17.04% rise. The overall average impact is 18.55%.
Aneel said the adjustments reflect higher costs related to energy acquisition, distribution, transmission, sectoral charges and financial components.
