By Brazil Stock Guide – Bradesco (BBDC4 BZ) is overhauling its insurance division, splitting operations and reshuffling leadership as part of a broader strategy to sharpen focus across business lines. Ivan Gontijo, who has led Bradesco Seguros for five years, will step down as chief executive and join the bank’s board.
The restructuring separates the group into two distinct units: BradSaúde, dedicated to health-related businesses, and Bradseg, which will house the remaining insurance and financial protection operations. The move aims to streamline management and position the company to capture growth in specialized segments.
BradSaúde will include Bradesco Saúde, Mediservice, Odontoprev (ODPV3 BZ), Atlântica Hospitais e Participações, Orizon, and the group’s stake in Fleury (FLRY3 BZ). Carlos Marinelli, currently head of Bradesco Saúde and Mediservice, will lead the division.
Bradseg will consolidate Bradesco Vida e Previdência, Bradesco Capitalização, Bradesco Auto/Re, Bradesco Seguros, Bradescor, and BSP Empreendimentos Imobiliários. Ney Dias, now chief executive of Bradesco Auto/Re, will take over as head of the unit, while existing corporate structures within each business will remain unchanged.
Rodrigo Bacellar, currently chief executive of Atlântica Hospitais e Participações, will succeed Dias at Bradesco Auto/Re. Bacellar previously led other group companies, including Orizon and Odontoprev.
Chairman Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi said Gontijo’s move strengthens the board’s strategic capabilities. “The appointment of Ivan brings even more expertise, knowledge and strategic vision to the board, while allowing him to continue contributing to the evolution of the insurance group,” he said.
Trabuco added that the split creates clearer operating fronts with significant growth potential. “The strategic move creating two distinct fronts, BradSaúde and Bradseg, positions us at the forefront to capture opportunities in a dynamic market where we have a long-standing presence,” he said.
