By Brazil Stock Guide – Brazil’s aviation regulator approved tariff increases at Rio de Janeiro’s Galeão and Minas Gerais’ Confins airports, with new rates allowed after concessionaire disclosure

Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency, known as Anac, raised the caps on airport tariffs at Rio de Janeiro’s Tom Jobim International Airport, known as Galeão, and Confins International Airport in Minas Gerais. The information was reported by Broadcast.

The revised caps may be applied 30 days after the airport concessionaires disclose the new amounts. The adjustments affect passenger boarding and connection fees, as well as aircraft landing and parking charges.

At Galeão, the caps for passenger boarding, connections, aircraft landing and aircraft parking were increased by 5.2%. The maximum domestic boarding fee will rise to 35.91 reais from 34.11 reais, while the international boarding fee will increase to 63.59 reais from 60.41 reais.

At Confins, the same group of tariffs was raised by 4.7%. The domestic boarding fee will increase to 35.15 reais from 33.56 reais, while the international fee will rise to 70.54 reais from 67.34 reais.

According to Anac, the percentages reflect the change in Brazil’s benchmark inflation index, the IPCA, between April 2025 and April 2026, plus the effects of factors established in the airport concession contracts.

The regulator also raised the caps on warehousing and cargo handling tariffs at both airports by 4.3915%. In this case, the increase was based solely on inflation accumulated over the same period.

Anac said the adjustments are provided for in the contracts as a monetary update mechanism designed to preserve the economic and financial balance of the airport concessions.

“The boarding fee is the only one paid by passengers and is intended to remunerate the provision of services, facilities and amenities made available by the concessionaire to passengers,” Anac said in a statement.
