By Brazil Stock Guide – 99, the Brazilian ride-hailing and delivery platform controlled by China’s DiDi Global Inc. (DIDIY), has started testing its 99Compras shopping delivery service in São Paulo’s metropolitan area, expanding beyond its initial rollout in Goiânia.

The service is now available in Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo and Diadema, three cities in the ABC industrial region. The company plans to extend the operation to São Caetano do Sul and later to other municipalities in Greater São Paulo.

99Compras brings together categories such as groceries, pharmacy products, beverages, pet supplies, beauty items and household goods inside the 99 app. Access to the service will be released gradually to users in the newly covered areas during the testing phase.

Unlike models based on company-owned warehouses, 99 is relying on partner retailers to handle product picking and inventory. Deliveries are carried out by couriers registered on the platform.

At this stage, deliveries are made by motorcycle and must be scheduled. Retailers already connected to the service include Carrefour, Atacadão, Americanas (AMER3) and Farmácias Nissei. Carrefour Brasil, which operates Carrefour and Atacadão in the country, trades under the ticker CRFB3.

In Goiânia, where the service launched in April, 99 says the operation has more than 500 active commercial partners and about 30,000 couriers eligible to handle deliveries.

The expansion into the São Paulo metro area puts 99 deeper into Brazil’s convenience delivery market, where it competes with platforms such as iFood and Rappi, as well as marketplaces including MercadoLibre Inc. (MELI) and Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN).
