By Brazil Stock Guide – Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) said it will open a second office in São Paulo to house technical teams developing products used across more than 70 countries, expanding its technology footprint in Brazil and Latin America.

The new site, in the Itaim Bibi district, will be the company’s largest technology center in the region. Spanning about 16,000 square meters across 11 floors, the facility is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 employees in engineering, product, design and data science. Operations are expected to begin by the first quarter of 2027.

Uber’s existing office in Pinheiros will continue to host operations and corporate functions, while the new location will consolidate technical teams. The company said the expansion will push its cumulative technology investments in Brazil beyond 2 billion reais, reflecting four rounds of capital commitments.

“We are expanding exponentially the number of technology professionals in Brazil. This new space will allow us to consolidate our teams in a more integrated environment for collaboration and the development of solutions that impact users across multiple markets,” Rafael Pereira, Uber’s director of engineering in Brazil, said in a statement.

Uber currently employs about 600 people at its São Paulo technology center. In 2024, the company announced a 1 billion-real investment to expand the hub over five years. A year later, it unveiled plans for a second technology park in Rio de Janeiro, backed by 500 million reais, underscoring Brazil’s role as a strategic innovation base for the company.
