**By Brazil Stock Guide —** Brazilian lender Bradesco has provided R$50 million ($9.3 million) in financing to agribusiness company Novapec Agropecuária to restore more than 3,000 hectares of degraded pastureland in the state of Mato Grosso, the bank said on Wednesday (October 14).

The deal, arranged under the second round of Brazil’s Eco Invest program, will finance pasture rehabilitation and the introduction of integrated livestock and forestry systems at two farms in the Cerrado, Brazil’s vast tropical savanna.

The loan was structured through a Financial Rural Product Note (CPR-F), a financing instrument widely used in Brazil’s agricultural sector. It has a 10-year maturity and a two-year grace period.

The project aims to increase cattle productivity on existing farmland without clearing additional native vegetation.

Planned investments include soil rehabilitation, rotational grazing infrastructure, water management systems and the planting of trees, primarily eucalyptus, alongside grazing areas.

The transaction received a favorable assessment from an independent certification body responsible for verifying compliance with Eco Invest’s environmental and social safeguards.

Under the financing agreement, Novapec will be required to monitor greenhouse gas emissions, environmental conditions and labor practices, as well as provide evidence that the planned investments are being carried out.

“This transaction demonstrates how capital markets can serve as a catalyst for the sustainable transformation of Brazilian agribusiness,” said Felipe Thut, head of fixed income at Bradesco BBI, the bank’s investment banking arm.

Eco Invest, part of the Brazilian government’s Ecological Transformation Plan, is designed to mobilize private capital for long-term investments in areas including degraded-land restoration, the bioeconomy, the energy transition and green infrastructure.

The Novapec transaction is part of Bradesco’s broader efforts to expand financing for agricultural businesses seeking to restore degraded land and improve productivity without expanding into areas of native vegetation.
